Trains and sky rides have been moving guests around theme parks for years. For larger parks they make getting around much, much easier offering a break from all the walking while also providing spectacular views of the park.
Sky rides are the two person benches or larger “buckets” that ride along a wire above the park. They have become less common, but a few parks that I know still have them are: Cedar Point, Six Flags Great Adventure, Great Escape, the Busch Gardens parks, and smaller parks like Lake Winnie and Tweetsie Railroad (See The Scariest Ride at Tweetsie). They have the benefit of great overhead views of the park’s attractions. As long as you’re not a little scared of heights that is.
Trains like those found at the Busch Gardens Williamsburg take you by areas of the park that you can’t see from paths including a horse area, over a bridge that crosses the Rhine River, and (sadly) by the plot of land that used to be home to Drachen Fire. Dollywood and Silver Dollar City’s steam-powered trains add to the retro-theme of those parks and also give excellent views of those park’s mountainous surroundings. Six Flags Great America and Six Flags Over Georgia both have trains. Anyone know of any other regional parks?
Which way do you prefer to move around theme parks: by sky ride or by train?
