Sesame Place (Langhorne, PA) announced a new wooden roller coaster for 2018 called Oscar’s Wacky Taxi. Designed by Gravity Group, the ride will feature yellow, taxi cab-inspired trains with Oscar the Grouch at the head of the train.
My Take – Wacky Taxi Should Be An Excellent Wooden Coaster for Sesame Place
The majority of the wooden roller coasters that people encounter at amusement parks are of the larger, more thrilling variety, but Wacky Taxi will fall into the junior woodie or family coaster category. With its fun, family-friendly dimensions (like its relatively small 40-foot drop) and a height requirement of only 40″, Oscar’s Wacky Taxi will be a great wooden roller coaster for Sesame Place.
I’m sure it’ll be an excellent first wooden roller coaster for kids for years to come given The Gravity Group’s stellar track record. When it opens, the new, well-designed woodie should provide a smooth ride with some noticeable moments of “airtime” (coaster geek speak for the moments where you rise out of your seat).
