This Bolliger & Mabillard low flying inverted coaster looks like a fun ride. Located at Phantasialand in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, the African-themed coaster dives below the ground a number of times. It’s subterranean sections are reminiscent of Montu’s Egyptian-themed trenches and Nemesis’s low flight path. It appears to spend even more time underground than those two rides. International coaster fan site Coaster Force has this description of Black Mamba:

This B&M Invert is built in and around trenches, pits, close walls, and other scenery, which accentuates its incredibly tight layout. Black Mamba features a new “inversion”, called a Jr. Immelman, which is essentially an Immelman inversion that is raised on an incline (similar to Hydra: The Revenge’s Immelman) and does not completely flip riders upside down. Black Mamba’s tight layout and superb theming provide for an excellent ride experience. – Coaster Force

According to RCDB this well-themed ride cost 11 million euros just for theming! That figure likely includes the cost of building the Deep in Africa section that it flies through. Roller Coaster Database has a 60 more photos of Mamba. Also check out this offride video of Black Mamba at Phantasialand. Germany is definitely one of my most wanted countries with Europa Park, Holiday Park, Ring Racer, and Phantasialand.

  1. Looks like a fun ride. I really need to get to Europe someday.

  2. If you can save up some money, you should take a trip with the Theme Park Review crew. They're always taking coaster trips to other countries.

  3. Leave it to B&M in creating another awesome ride. Crystal wings is also a B&M flyer. Black Mamba looks to be an amazing coaster. I've noticed that B&M's inverted coasters have the most extensive theming of all the coasters that they do. Batman: The Ride clones, Black Mamba, Montu, Alpeneist, and the list goes on. Theming really makes a good coaster great. Proximity to the structures, what's inside the line, and the list goes on, and on, and on.

  4. have you ever tried that CC? I am loving this new feature. Most Wanted Coasters: Genious!

  5. I` m just wondering how you forgot Afterburn 🙂

  6. Guess I just wasn't really thinking at the time.

  7. Thanks. I'm glad that you like it.

No, unfortunately I haven't but I hope to someday. The itineraries are packed parks in the U.S. and abroad.

  8. It would be realy cool to try that though.

  9. well you must`ve, good point.

  10. I've ridden it, and it's one of my favourites. It's so intens, doesn't give you time to breath until you hit the brakes. And because 2/3 is below ground, you have a great view if you're waiting with Black Mamba popping up here and there, just like the real Black Mamba (snake).

  11. I've alway wanted to go on Black Mamba when I saw it on youtube a few years ago. I just looks so fun! I wish I could go to alot of amusment parks out of the US.
